Development of core facilities on the McConnell Arboretum. The property, consisting of 40 acres, would include 20 acres of open space and garden areas; 2.9 acres of paved/concrete roads, parking areas, ramps, patios, and sidewalks; 1 acre of decomposed granite pathways/trails; 0.6 acres of interior structures, exhibits, and work areas; and 1.5 acres for the proposed maintenance and operations center. The use permit (UP-10-01) also includes permission for encroachment into the 100-year floodplain and setback for Sulphur Creek.
An amendment (AMND-2021-00314) to the use permit (UP-10-01) includes the construction of a new nursery building and a new storage building on property located at 1100 and 1275 Arboretum Drive in a Public Facility District. The Museum Grant-funded project elements for the Turtle Bay Environmental Resource Building project are limited to a 2,821 square foot classroom/office building and a 1,570 square foot outdoor nursery space within the McConnel Arboretum property to replace an existing portable building.
