Document Description
Desert Valley Company (DVC) has two open landfill cells (Cells I and II) which share a long berm at the Monofill Facility. The original closure plan for these cells proposed separate closure with a depression between the cells. In the recent construction of Cell II, it became apparent that the space or depression between the cells could be put to beneficial use. DVC proposes to utilize this space by taking the following steps: 1. Tie (connect) the liner systems of both cells together. This step includes replacement of some of the berm with a clay liner and connecting the high density polyethylene (HDPE) and leachate collection systems together. This activity could occur once Cell II has filled up to the proposed berm height so that there is no undue stress placed on the liner system. 2. Fill the space between the two cells with geothermal materials. 3. Close both cells as one unit.
