Document Description
The project consists of design and construction of a 200 bed juvenile detention facility. At full build-out, the facility will consist of eight (8) buildings within a campus-style layout. All activities of the juveniles will be restricted to the 15.85 acre parcel, and a 12 foot chain link security fence is to be installed around the perimeter of the site. At full build-out, the facility will consist of: one 15,430 square foot administration building; one 8,678 square foot kitchen/laundry/dining/warehouse building; one 10,890 square foot education building; and five 11,877 square foot detention housing pods (each pod containing 40 beds). Approximately 80 employees will staff the facility, which will operate 24 hours per day, seven days per week. The maximum shift will be the daytime and will be composed of counselors, support staff, medical staff and teaching staff. The purpose of the project is to alleviate overcrowding of existing County juvenile facilities and programs by increasing the number of treatment beds available to juvenile offenders.
