Document Description
The proposed project involves the renovation and expansion of the existing Acosta Athletic Center (approximately 32,526 gross square feet), in the Central zone of the campus. Work would include demolition of two existing one-story wings on the north and south ends of the building (approximately 19,359 gsf), and surrounding hardscape; upgrades to the building's HVAC, fire and life safety systems and handicap accessibility; construction of two new two-story additions; interior reconfigurations of existing space to improve space utilization and building function; and provision of replacement hardscape and landscape. As a result of this work, approximately 33,325 gsf of net space would be added to the Center. Phased construction of the expansion and renovation would permit continued occupancy of the building during construction. The Project would be designed to meet applicable life safety and ADA code requirements. The Tiered Initial Study for this proposed Project includes an amendment of the UCLA 1990 Long Range Development Plan to transfer approximately 33,325 gsf to the Central zone to accommodate the expansion of the Acosta Athletic Training Center.
