Document Description
The applicant proposes the construction of a skid trail crossing over a seasonal Class II watercourse. The crossing will be constructed by placing logs in the stream channel. One or two large (>12") rocks may be pulled from the streambed to accomodate the logs. A temporary 8" pipe will be installed at the base of the logs. A straw or filter fabric lining will be placed over the logs. An earthen cap will be placed over the straw layer to provide a running surface duing operations. Upon completion of the use of the crossing, the dirt will be bladed off and removed to a stable location away from the watercourse. Care will be taken to prevent deposition of soil below the watercourse and lake trasition line. teh logs wil be lifted out using chokers or a grapple equipped machine. All bare soils within the Watercourse and Lake Transition Zone will be treated for erosion control as set forth in Item 18 of Timber Harvest Plan #1-99-174 SON.
