Document Description
The proposed project would seismically retrofit the existing Dormitory Building E at the California Correctional Institution (CCI), Tehachapi. The existing building has been evaluated by the Seismic Retrofit Program, and determined to require structural improvements to strengthen this State facility. Dormitory Building E is a two-story building, with a floor space of approximately 33,900 square feet. It functions as an inmate dormitory, and faces Dormitory F. The project includes the following seismic retrofit improvements: 1) addition of new concrete shear wall lengths, 2) fiber-wrap on existing concrete and masonry shear wall portions, and 3) concrete moment resisting frames strategically spaced to divide the horizontal span of the roof and floor diaphragms. The project would not involve an expansion of current use.
