Document Description
The project involves the retrofit of the Nicasio Creek bridge to prevent collapse of the bridge during a large earthquake. The proposed work will include placing reinforced concrete walls between the columns of the existing piers and improvements to the abutments. Other structural improvements will be included which will not affect the stream. To expose the piers for construction, approximately 20 cubic yards of streambed material will be excavated and replaced. To allow construction within the bed of the stream, stream flow will be diverted through temporary 24-inch plastic pipe laid on the streambed. Approximately 20 cubic yards of imported gravel fill will be used to create coffer dams to isolate the work site from the flowing water. Issuance of Streambed Alteration Agreement Number R3-2001-0358 pursuant to Fish and Game Code Section 1601.
