Document Description
The project involves the retrofit of the Walker Creek bridge to prevent collapse of the bridge during a large earthquake. The proposed work will include placing reinforced concrete walls between the columns of existing piers, reconstructing footings, and improvements to the abutments. Other structural improvements will be included which will not affect the stream. To expose the piers for construction, approximately 25 cubic yards of streambed material will be excavated. To allow construction within the bed of the stream, stream flow will be crowded against the right bank by placing gravel fill from the right bank around the pier which currently sits in the live stream. Approximately 45 cubic yards of imported gravel fill will be used to crowd the stream and isolate the work site. Issuance of Streambed Alteration Agreement Number R3-2001-0343 pursuant to Fish and Game Code Section 1601.
