Document Description
The Removal Action Workplan (RAW) proposes the limited excavation and offsite disposal of up to 200 cubic yards of soil contaminated with lead as a result of past site activities by Cecil's Radiator Shop. The objective of the RAW is to remove high concentrations of lead contamination, highest concentration detected was 120,000 parts-per-million (ppm), in surface soils in an area approximately 10,000 sq. ft. to achieve a concentration (222 ppm lead) that will allow the property to be used for unrestricted land use. The project scope is to remove the lead contaminated soil, estimated to be 0.5 to 1 ft. below-ground-surface, stockpile the excavated soil on concrete pad and evaluate the contminated soil to determine the disposal or treatment requirements, load and transport the contaminated soil to an appropriate facility, and collect confirmation samples from the previously excavated areas. It is estimated that the volume of soil requiring excavation will not exceed 200 cubic yards. At the conclusion of the removal action activities, a similar volume of clean fill will be imported to backfill the excavation. The back filled area will then be graded in such a way to ensure that strormwater runoff flows away from the back filled area. The top of the back filled area will then be seeded with vegetation indigenous to the area.
