Document Description
CDFW has executed Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreement No. 1600-2017-0411-R3, pursuant to section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code to the project Applicant, City of Capitola.
Project is limited to the annual construction of a sand berm, in the spring, and the removal of said sand berm, in the fall, on Soquel Creek near its confluence with the Pacific Ocean. The construction of the sand berm allows for freshwater lagoon to develop behind the sand berm and allows for beach and ocean accessing during the summer. While the sand berm is installed, Soquel Creek reaches the ocean by passing through a concrete box culvert (flume) in the middle of Capitola Beach. The inlet and outlet of the flume is managed with flashboards to regulate lagoon water levels and water quality and facilitate salmonid migration.
