Document Description
The Santa Clara Unified School District proposes a joint project with the City of Santa Clara to construct an approximately 24,000 square foot performing arts center building within the existing quad of the Wilcox High School campus. Two new parking lots will be constructed within campus to replace parking spaces lost due to construction of the performing arts center. The high school is expected to present roughly two performances per school quarter, which would replace performances that are currently being held in the high school's multi-purpose room. The City's performances are currently being held at the Community Recreation Center at Kiely Park. The school's performances would typically be on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays and the City's use would usually be on Saturdays and Sundays. The performing arts center would consist of a 356-seat theater, a lobby with concession stand and restrooms, a stage, backstage with preparation area and scene shop, and a "black box" rehearsal area.
