Bradshaw Road Bridge Replacement

The Sacramento County Public Works Agency is proposing to replace the existing Bradshaw Road bridge at Morrison Creek. The proposed bridge would be a reinforced concrete structure approximately 93 feet (ft.), 6 inches (in.) long and 71 ft., 6 in. wide supported on open column bents with type 25 modified railing on both sides, constructed at the existing 45 degree skew. The new bridge will be approximately 25 ft. wider to the west and approximately 11 ft. wider to the east. It will accommodate four 11-ft. wide lanes, a 12-ft. center median and 5 ft. wide shoulders. Due to finding constraints and existing traffic volumes, the bridge is not being widened to its ultimate six lane width at this time. When the time comes to widen to six lanes, the newer bridge wil be easily expandable. Construction would extend approximately 250 ft north and south of the bridge to conform with the existing pavement widths. Three utilities would be subject to modification within the project limits: overhead electrical and telephone services and an underground high-pressure gas line. Right of way acquistion will be required at five parcels. Permanent right of way will consist of 2,354 sq. ft. while temporary construction easements will require 7,935 sq. ft.. Channel work would be confined to that necessary to remove the existing bridge and construct the new bridge. No upstream or downstream work is proposed. During construction, stream flows would be bypassed around the work site by temporary piping. All in-stream work is proposed to be done in conformance with California Department of Fish and Game's requirements. Construction would be staged in order to accommodate traffic on Bradshaw Road during construction.
