Replacement of the Ocean Pier for Moss Landing Marine Laboratories

The proposed project, known as the Replacement of the Ocean Pier for Moss Landing Marine Laboratories, involves the replacement of an existing damaged 480-foot-long wooden pier with the construction of a new 500-foot-long concrete pier. The primary function of the new facility would be a marine research pier to support the research of Moss Landing Marine Lab (MLML) and Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute (MBARI). The proposed pier would be built in the approximate location as the remnants of the former pier. The western end of the pier would include an expanded area of 60 feet by 48 feet to provide an area for a jib crane to retrieve and lower equipment, instrumentation, and small submersible research vehicles.
