Document Description
SMMC will implement a native plant restoration plan along Ramirez Creek within Ramirez Canyon Park. This includes removing invasive non-natives and replacing them with natives where appropriate. In addition, the SMMC will create approximately 0.16 acre of wetland habitat adjacent to the creek. This will be done by removing part of a rock channel wall in Ramirez Creek and removing a tennis court in the adjacent upland. The tennis court area will be graded to no more than a 2:1 slope. Rip-rap will be placed at the entrance to the excavated tennis court to protect from erosion. Native plants will be installed in the graded area and artificial soil retention techniques will be employed until the native plants establish themselves well enough to prevent erosion and downstream deposition. Also, check structures will be placed within the stream to reduce stream velocities and help prevent further stream channel degradation.
