Document Description
The City of Palo Alto proposes to install four natural gas-fired 1.35-MW reciprocating engines at the Municipal Service Center at 3201 East Bayshore Road. The back-up generators would be used during Stage 3 electric shortages when the California Independent System Operator (ISO) has required Palo Alto to curtail load on the electric system. The City of Palo Alto would use the back-up generators to reduce rolling blackouts and they may also be used during peak demand periods to mitigate increasing wholesale electrical costs. The proposed project will also involve the removal of four temporary portable diesel generators.
