Document Description
The California Department of Fish and Game (CDFG) proposes to enhance approximately 8 acres of seasonally flooded wetland on the Elk River Wildlife Area (ERWA). CDFG plans to excavate two target areas within the project site to maximize shallow, open water habitat, a key habitat for wintering waterfowl and shorebirds. The work plan calls for installing a flashboard riser water-control structure on the site to allow the proper management of this enhancement. Further, an existing water control structure on the site to allow the proper management of this enhancement. Further, an existing water control structure will be repaired and an existing culvert will be removed to further facilitate water retention in targeted basins.
