Document Description
The Inland Empire Utilities Agency (IEUA or Agency) is proposing to install, operate and maintain pilot scale digester facilities that are intended to provide a clean, renewable source of methane gas (biogas) as a substitute for natural gas fuel to power back-up power generation facilities (1,750 kilowatts (kW)) that are in the process of being installed at the Chino 1 Desalter. The maximum-sized project that will be considered for approval by the IEUA Board of Directors will produce enough digester biogas to generate 1.75 megawatts (mW) of electricity. This project will be phased, with a first phase digester process estimated to produce enough digester biogas to generate up to 0.5 megawatts of electricity for use at the Chino 1 Desalter or other generators connected to the digester gas distribution system. This digester pilot project is referred to herein as the "Synagro Digester".
