Document Description
The City of Carmel-by-the-Sea proposes to update its Commercial Design Ordinance and Guidlines. The proposed update would change several development standards in the existing ordinance including allowed floor area, minimum setbacks, allowed building coverage, and maximum height. The project would also adopt illustrated design guidelines for the City's design review process. The purpose of the draft ordinance and guidelines is to establish development regulations that will ensure that in-fill projects, replacement buildings, and facade remodels conserve the exemplary design character of the City's commercial districts. The Commercial Design Ordinance and Guidelines will cover all properties within the Central Commercial (CC), Service Commercial (SC), and Residential/Limited Commercial (RC) Districts within the City limits of the City of Carmel-by-the-Sea, Monterey County, California.
