Document Description
Replacement of an existing backup well ("Willow Well") in the Canada Woods Public Water System with another well ("River Well No. 2") to be located approximately 10 feet from the bank of the Carmel River. The purpose of the new "River Well No. 2" is to replace the existing "Willow Well", which contains high levels of manganese, sulfate, and total dissolved solids. The beneficiaries will be Canada Woods LLC and the lots within the Canada Woods and the Canada Woods North Subdivisions previously approved by the Board of Supervisors, which will recieve water from the Canada Woods Public Water System.

Reasons for Exemption
The Board of Supervisors has found that development of the proposed well is exempt from the provisions of Chapter 21.64.130 of the Monterey County Zoning Ordinance. This finding has been made pursuant to Section 21.64.130. G.3 of the Ordinance, based on the following: 1) installation of the proposed well represents a project of a minor nature; 2) installation of the proposed well will have no impact on the flood plain of the Carmel River ; and 3) installation of the proposed well will have no impact on the riparian corridor of the Carmel River.
