Document Description
Demolition and removal of an existing house located adjacent to the existing Las Juntas Elementary School. The purchase of parcel #380-180-066 and demolition of the existing house will allow for the district to expand the existing parking area and improve traffic circulation in and around school property. There are no plans to expand the existing school structure. Demolition of the structure will be undertaken in compliance with state regulations regarding hazardous materials and all required state clearances.

Reasons for Exemption
The purpose of the project is to demolish an existing single-family structure to allow for an expanded parking area as well as improve public safety in and around the elementary school. The School District has purchased the adjoining parcel with the single-family house in order to accomodate the improvements. Pedestrian safety has been a problem during pick-up and drop-off at the school. With the addition of the adjoining property to expand the parking area and improve circulation, the safety issue will be resolved.
