Document Description
The proposed project consists of replacing an existing ground-level helicopter landing site with a heli-dock structure located on the existing hospital building. Helicopters provide air ambulance services to the hospital. The project is necessary because the existing helicopter does not meet CalTrans standards for such facilities. The new facility will meet CalTrans requirements with the removal or topping of 106 trees within the proposed flight paths. Trees adjacent to the flight path will remain and be marked by obstruction lights on 120 feet steel poles. All new structures associated with the project will be located on the hospital property. An estimated 30 trees located off-site on property west of 4th Street will be topped or removed. Authorization from the affected off-site property owner will be required. No expansion of service, number of flights or increase in employees is proposed. No helicopter fueling will occur at the new landing site.
