Present Land Use
Preferred project location is in use as a landfill, and is zoned as Public Facility
Document Description
The existing Crescent City landfill will close when it reaches its permitted capacity as defined by the topography described in Closure Plan. Estimates indicate that it will reach capacity during the summer of 2003, and then is scheduled for final closure. Currently, the landfill accepts approximately 80 tons of waste each day. A transfer station has been proposed for construction at one of three locations in the greater Crescent City area to serve as a replacement facility for the landfill. Wastes will be hauled out of the County and most likely be disposed of at the Dru Creek Landfill, in Medford, via Highways 101 and 199.
