Document Description
The existing Crescent City landfill will close when it reaches its permitted capacity as defined by the topography described in the Final Closure and Post Maintenance Plan (Bruce Dees & Associates, 1996). Estimates indicate that it will reach capacity during the summer of 2003, and then is scheduled for final closure. The primary purpose of the proposed Transfer Station/Materials Recovery Facility Project is to provide a replacement facility for the disposal of Municipal Solid Wastes (MSW) and special wastes generated within Del Norte County. The secondary purpose is to provide additional discards management services that will help the Authority implement the programs described in the adopted Countywide Integrated Waste Management Plan (1996) and the Del Norte Zero Waste Plan (2000).
