The IID and the U.S. Department of the Interior, Bureau of Land Management (BLM) are preparing to assess the environmental effects of constructing, operating, and maintaining a new, approximately 118 mile long, transmission line from a new substation/switching station located on the north side of Hobsonway, west of the Blythe Power Plant, approximately 4.5 miles west of Blythe, California, to Southern California Edison's Devers Substation, approximately 10 miles north of Palm Springs. The proposed project will operate at either 230-kV or 500-kV and will provide increased transmission line capabilities from the proposed new substation/switching station on Hobsonway to the Devers Substation to meet transmission requests.
