Document Description
The project evaluated in the Initial Study prepared by the Antelope Valley-East Kern Water Agency is a proposed permanent transfer of 3,000 acre-feet of State Water Project annual entitlement from Tulare Lake Basin Water Storage District to AVEK. The purpose and effect of this proposed project is to firm up AVEK's existing supply of SWP water by offsetting regulatory water delivered as a result of the Bay-Delta Accord and the listing of threatened and endangered species under the Endangered Species Act. Both TLBWSD and AVEK have long-term contracts with the Department of Water Resources for water service delivery from the SWP. In order to effectuate the transfer, it will be necessary to amend the long-term water supply contracts of these two contractors with DWR.
