The Regional Transportation Plan is the major policy and planning document for the Metropolitan Transportation Commission and is required under federal planning regulations. It outlines future transportation investment strategies for the nine-county San Francisco Bay Area through the year 2025, given a reasonable estimate of future transportation revenues. The last update of the RTP was adopted by the MTC in October 1998.
