Document Description
The Cascade Shores Hazard Reduction (Fuelbreak) Project entails the removal of the majority of the understory vegetation 10 inches and less in diameter at breast height within 75 feet of the centerline of several roads near Nevada City in Nevada County, California, for approximately 13 miles. All work will be accomplished by use of a masticator and/or hand crews supported by chippers and burning. The majority of downed material shall be chipped and left on-site. The project will create a Roadside Modified Shaded Fuel Break that is a defensible location to be used by fire suppression resources to suppress oncoming wildfires. The fuel break will provide greater safety for ingress and egress during fire emergencies.
