Document Description
Central Contra Costa Sanitary District owns, operates, and maintains a wastewater collection, treatment, disposal, and reclamation system serving nearly half the population of Contra Costa County. The wastewater treatment facility and discharge outfall are located in unincorporated Contra Costa County, near the City of Martinez. Under its existing National Pollution Discharge Elimination System permit, CCCSD may discharge up to 45 million gallons per day (MGD) of effluent (treated wastewater) to Suisun Bay. This is based on Average Dry Weather Flow. In anticipation of potentially reaching and exceeding its current effluent discharge limit within the next several years, the District has requested from the San Francisco Bay Regional Water Quality Control Board, and increase in the quantity of effluent the District is permitted to discharge.
