Document Description
The Aliso Water Management Agency (AWMA) and the Moulton Niguel Water District (MNWD) are proposing to improve its existing pipeline infrastructure along Aliso Creek within the Aliso/Wood Canyon Wilderness Park. Existing buried pipelines along the east bank of the creek can convey sewage to and sludge from the AWMA Coastal Treatment Plant located near the south boundary of the Park. These pipelines have become vulnerable to exposure due to erosion along the watershed; on occasion these pipelines have ruptured and spilled into the adjacent Creek. The proposed project will install three pipelines along the west side of the creek: a replacement sewer, a replacement sludge force main and a new reclaimed water pipeline. The pipeline portion of the project has two purposes: to replace and relocate existing piping to a place that is less vulnerable to failure and to allow for further distribution of reclaimed water produced at the Coastal Treatment Plant. The size of the replacement sewer is being increased beyond its curent size. This size increase is proposed to provide storage for potential emergency sewage overflows from the MNWD Alicia Parkway Lift Station.
