Document Description
The application is a request to permit the approval of a Use Permit (UP #3691) and Coastal Development Permit for the proposed Boy Scouts of America Sea Base Expansion. The project site is located at 1931 West Coast Highway on the south side of the Pacific Coast Highway between Newport Boulevard and Lower Newport Bay, adjacent to Lido Channel, in the City of Newport Beach. The existing Sea Base consists of 9,943 square feet of office space, classrooms, storage, and a duty house that is located on 1.18 acres. The project involves the demolition of the existing 1,785 sf duty house and 490 sf storage area. The new construction proposed includes a two-story structure for sailing building (8,092 square feet) and a two-story structure for a rowing building (6,500 sf). The total building area will be increased from 9,943 sf to a total area of 22,060 sf with the proposed expansion.
