Document Description
The R-6 Reservoir, which was constructed in 1967, is a large potable water reservoir owned, operated and maintained by the District within the City of Mission Viejo (Reference attached Vininity Map for geographical orientation). The R-6 Reservoir Joint Use Improvement Project (Project) is regional water supply reliability project being sponsored jointly by the District, Santa Margarita Water District and Moulton Niguel Water District. The benefits of the project include improving emergency water reserves by increasing reservoir storage capacity in south Orange county. The regional nature of the project enhances the availability of stored potable water in an area of critical need to meet existing emergency water reserve demands for each sponsoring agency's respective service area. Other than through the provision of additional emergency storage capacity, the Project is neither designed nor intended to increase operational capacity beyond pre-project levels.
