The subject property is currently the site of the municipal landfill. The existing landfill property is designated and zoned as open space. Privately owned parcels, slated acquisition for the landfill, are planned as open space and currently zoned residential. Rezoning of these parcels occurs as they are acquired.
The project consists of expanding the physical and operational characteristics of the Madera County Integrated Solid Waste Management Facility, consisting of the Fairmead Class III Landfill and the Mammoth Materials Recovery facility.
