Document Description
LAUSD proposes to construct a new high school at 460 North Grand Avenue in the City of Los Angeles. The proposed high school would have a total enrollment of 2,129 students in grades 9-12 with approximately 1,521 students in session at one time. This school is proposed to operate under the Concept 6 calendar, which is the calendar for a three-track program. Two of three groups of students are in school at any given time, while one group is on vacation, with 163 scheduled days of instruction and about 40 percent increase in operating capacity. The proposed high school would contain a total of 64 classrooms consisting of 52 regular classrooms, nine special education classrooms and three set-aside classrooms. The proposed new high school will relieve overcrowding at the existing Belmont Senior High School, located at 1575 West 2nd Street in the City of Los Angeles (approximately 1.5 miles southwest of the project site).
