Document Description
The purpose of the project is to enhance the state scenic highway corridor and gateways, improve educational awareness of the ecological resources along the Silver Strand, provide additional open space and recreational opportunities for residents and visitors to enjoy, and provide a necessary extension of the southbound bike path along the east side and adjacent to SR-75 from the City of Coronado to the City of Imperial Beach that meets minimum safety requirements for a Class 1 bike path. The project components have been divided into two sections: the Northern Gateway and the Southern Gateway. Project components include Naval Amphibious Base SR-75 Median Landscape Improvements, Dune Restoration, Fiddler's Cove Landscape Improvements, in the Northern Gateway; and an Interpretive Center, Entry Sign/Monumentation, Bike Path Spur, and Imperial Beach Median Landscape Improvements in the Southern Gateway.
