The proposed conjunctive use program allows Cawelo Water District (CWD) to construct previously planned conveyance, recharge, and recovery facilities while concurrently allowing Dudley Ridge Water District (DRWD) access to bank surface water within CWD in wetter years to provide DRWD with a water supply that can be recovered in drier years. The conjunctive use program would provide improved water supply reliability to both CWD and DRWD. The conjunctive use program would provide CWD with capital funding from DWRD to construct portions of previously planned and CEQA compliant conveyance, recharge, and recovery facilities in CWD, while also providing local water supply benefits and reduced water costs to CWD water users.
