Document Description
The proposed project is to modernize and upgrade the San Carlos Airport to meet safety, reliability, and service requirements. Specific major landside and airside improvements to the existing facilities include:
* Increasing the existing terminal building by 3,760 square feet;
* Increasing onsite aircraft fuel storage by 10,000 gallons;
* Reconfiguring a portion of the existing aircraft parking spaces from tie-downs to enclosed hangers, resulting in two additional aircraft parking spaces;
* Addition of a 300-foot by 75-foot paved safety stopway at each end of the existing runway;
* Upgrade of landing aids from visual approach slope indicator-2 (VASI-2) to a more modern precision approach path indicator-2 (PAPI-2); and
* Addition of an automated surface observing system (ASOS).
