The County of Los Angeles proposes to expand the Downey Animal Shelter located at 11258 South Garfield Boulevard in Downey. The project involves the demolition of five existing facilities and construction of three new single story kennel buildings (2,987 sq.ft. each), a cat holding facility (900 sq.ft.), a utility building (1,824 sq.ft.) with a covered area (1,268 sq.ft.) for vehicle parking and washdown, and a staff operations building (1,347 sq.ft.), along with associated walkways.
