Document Description
The Library and Information Technology Center, Science and Engineering Building, and Classroom and Office Building (collectively referred to as "the Project") constitute the initial academic core of the University of California, Merced campus. The location of the new campus is approximatley two miles northeast of the city limits of Merced and immediately east of Lake Yosemite Regional Park and a portion of Lake Road. The project will be located on the highest elevation of the Phase 1 site, located on approximately 110 acres in the southwestern corner of the 910-acre Main Campus, on a portion of the area occupied by the Merced Hills Golf Course. The Project will be visible to visitors approaching from the city of Merced and situated to provide views of the adjacent lake and park to the west and the Sierra Nevada range to the east. The three academic building-library, science and engineering buildings, and classrooms-will border a 3-acre campus green, which will overlook the Fairfield Canal and playing fields to the south.
