Document Description
A DEIR will be prepared to reclaim and operate a disturbance on three acres of a larger 80-acre site. It is estimated that the current three acres of disturbance will be mined to a lower elevation. It is estimated that the mine produces an average of approximately 2,000 cubic yards of material per year. Based on the amount of material used per year, the life of the operation would extend to 2021. The material will be used for various county maintenance needs. The proposed end land use will be material and equipment storage. A botanical and special status wildlife surveys have been conducted on this site. No state or federally listed, proposed, or candidate rare, threatened, or endangered plant species were observed in the project area. In addition, no unique or critical animal habitats were observed on site. There is a wet meadow area to the north of the project area (off site). Additional issues to be evaluated in the DEIR include; noise, dust and erosion control issues and possible impacts to the scenic highway corridor.
