Document Description
To accommodate the road widening, several existing box culverts will need to be extended and a gas line will need to be relocated. These activities will impact Agua Fria Creek, Agua Caliente Creek and Torges Creek. Most of Agua Fria Creek is concrete lined in the area of the project and supports very little aquatic vegetation and no aquatic vertebrates. Torges Creek also contains concrete lining and some sack concrete and supports little aquatic vegetation or aquatic life. A portion of the box culvert under Highway 880 where Agua Fria Creek crosses under the roadway will be replaced (location #17). All work will be performed in isolation of the live channel by constructing coffer dams upstream and downstream of the work area and bypassing stream flows in a culvert or through the use of sheet piles to dry out the work area bypassing flows in the channel around the work area. All material placed or falling into the channel during outfall construction will be removed upon completion of the work. A the east side of Highway 880, culvert extensions will close off a portion of the open channels of Agua Fria Creek, Agua Caliente Creek and Torges Creek (locations #7, #14, and # 15). The channels are either concrete lined or sac-crete lined and lie between Highway 880 and the frontage road. Work in these drainages will be done in isolation of the flowing stream.
