Document Description
The proposed project consists of approximately 176 market-rate, rental housing units, 11,700 square feet of retail space and 275 parking on a 2.13 acre site. The historic Cox Cadillac Showroom currently on the site (fronting Bay Place) will be restored to its oringinal architectural style and will house the proposed retail component. The additional buildings on the site (located behind the showroom) will be demolished and replaced with two levels of parking and five levels of housing. The new building will be approximately 75 feet tall. The housing unit mix will include studio, one bedroom units. The zoning designation for the site is C-30, District Throughfare Commercial with an S-12 Residential Parking Combining Zone overlay. The proposed mixed-use project is consistent with the City of Oakland's General Plan land use designations for the site, which are Neighborhood Center Mixed-Use and Urban Residential. Construction of the proposed project may require obtainment of various zoning permits including a Conditional Use Permit and Design Review.
