This area of Monterey County has historically experienced serious traffic accidents including a recent rail / truck collision. Caltrans and county public works have conditioned the project to install an acceleration land on south bound Highway 102, which will help lower the LOS "F" condition for the Highway 101/Spence Road intersection.
