The land use designation is 3.1 (Public or Private Recreation Areas) and both the zoning and use of the ISC are consistent with the Specific Plan designation of 3.1. A Conditional Use Permit (CUP) is required for a senior citizen center located in an R-1 zone. CUP #7 - Zone Map #47-30 was approved on April 9, 1987 by the Kern County Board of Zoning Adjustment for construction of the existing 2,160 square foot senior center.
Document Description
The Inyokern Senior Center Expansion Project consists of the design and construction of a +/- 1,300 square foot addition to the existing Inyokern Senior Center (ISC) on 1.63 acres of land. The ISC is located on the northeast portion of the property with a local County park occupying the remaining land. The expanded building area will be utilized as a new recreation room for billiards. The County Parks Department storage room will be relocated to the new addition with the existing storage area providing access to the new recreation room. The project also includes landscaping with irrigation, modification to the existing building and parking lot expansion to add 15 spaces on the west portion of the County owned parcel.
