Public Institutional Public Institutional District of the East Valley Corridor Specific Plan Class III solid waste disposal facility known as the California Street Landfill.
Document Description
The CSL operates as a Class III waste management unit as defined in Title 27 of the California Code of Regulations (CCR). The CSL is comprised of the inactive East Side Landfill, the active West Side Landfill, and an active cover soil borrow area located southerly of and adjacent to the active West Side Landfill. Wastes generated within the City of Redlands are disposed of at the active disposal unit. Soil excavated from the borrow area is used to cover the wastes. The active disposal unit is projected to have adequate capacity to accommodate the disposal of wastes through in 2004. To accommodate waste disposal needs after the active unit has reached capacity, the City is proposing to expand the capacity of the CSL. This expansion will be accomplished by excavating cover soil from the borrow area in such a manner that future waste disposal units will be developed. Once the active West Side Landfill has reached capacity, disposal activities will continue in the cells developed in the soil borrow area. Based on current data, it is projected that expansion of the CSL will provide the capacity to accommodate wastes generated in the City through the year 2031.
