Document Description
The State of California and the California Science Center propose to construct a new four-level, subterranean parking structure, which would include parking at grade level and three subterranean parking levels providing a total of approximately 2,020 spaces. The immediate area around the proposed structure would slope down to the lower parking levels, allowing the walls of the structure to remain open to the air. New educational gardens would be provided in the sloped areas immediately west and north of the parking structure resulting in a net increase in landscaped open space in the park. The project would consolidate parking spaces at a location that provides convenient access to the most commonly visited facilities in the park, as well as regional transportation facilities such as the I-110 freeway and transitway.
