Document Description
James Irrigation District (James ID) proposes to implement a groundwater storage project over approximately 8,950 acres of land, in order to augment existing irrigation water supplies and reduce overdraft within the Kings sub-basin of the San Joaquin groundwater basin. James ID has historically on average provided approximately 30 percent of its irrigation deliveries from nearby groundwater sources. By recharging the area where the majority of James ID wells are located, it is anticipated, that during drought years groundwater will be more readily available when surface water supplies are limited, the groundwater levels will rise in the project area, and additional Kings River water will be beneficially used within the Kings River Service Area.
