Document Description
The Accelerated School is a charter school that currently serves approximately 240 students in a combination of remnant structures from past garment manufacturing uses and more recent construction specific to school uses. Almost one-half of the existing site consists of warehouse-type structures unsuitable for conversion to school uses because they do not meet District earthquake standards. The Accelerated School will expand its facilities and enrollment by demolishing the warehouse-type buildings that currently exist on site, as well as the three residential properties on Woodlawn Avenue recently acquired by the school, and constructing a new 96,000-square foot facility to serve approximately 870 pre-school through grade 12 students.
