Document Description
The Llano Illegal Disposal Site is located within one mile of residences and adjacent to the California Aqueduct. An estimated 1,000 cubic yards of solid waste has been dumped on several parcels adjacent to the aqueduct. The majority of waste, an estimated 800 cubic yards, has been dumped on property owned by the California Department of Water Resources (DWR). The remaining solid waste has been scattered over seven adjacent parcels. Remediation of the site includes transporting unrecyclable solid waste (e.g., household garbage, wood debris, etc.) to appropriate land fills; separating and hauling metal debris to appropriate recycling facilities; and pakaging and proper disposal of all household hazardous waste and asbestos-containing waste. The DWR will fence its property upon the completion of cleanup activities. Upon completion of the project it is anticipated that all wastes will be removed and no further action will be required other than monitoring by the County Local Enforcement Agency (LEA) to ensure no additional illegal dumping occurs.
