Document Description
The proposed project is an update of the County's existing 1994 Regional Transportation Plan. The Regional Transportation Plan (RTP) is a State-mandated comprehensive long-range (20-year) regional planning document that is used to guide the development of the Regional and Federal Transportation Improvement Program as well as other transportation programming efforts. The RTP identifies the region's transportation needs and issues, sets forth an action plan of projects, determines actions and programs to address the needs, and documents the financial resources needed to implement the Plan. The RTP establishes a clear vision of Santa Cruz County's regional transportation goals, policies, objectives, and strategies. The action element of the RTP includes all the major physical transportation planning projects being considered by the various agencies within the County. Such projects include road widenings and extensions, bicycle trails and paths, rail-related projects, transit-oriented projects, and other infrastructure related to transportation activities.
