Document Description
The MacArthur Boulevard Streetscape Master Plan addresses the following goals: Enhancement of the commercial/business environment; Calming of traffic and enhancement of pedestrian movement; and creation of an attractive city gateway. Major design elements include enhanced curbside parking areas, pedestrian-oriented street lighting, infill street trees, corner sidewalk "bulb-outs" and shorter pedestrian street crossings, attractive benches and trash receptacles, and, in the southerly portion of the corridor, median islands for traffic calming and beautification. The project area encompasses approximately 6,000 feet of MacArthur Boulevard, extending from Durant Avenue on the north (at border with City of Oakland) to Grand Avenue/Joaquin Avenue on the south. Both the east and west sides of MacArthur Boulevard are included.
